What does the LORD your God ask of you?

The book of Deuteronomy is like a refresher course. Moses is recalling the nation's history from its roots to the present right before the Israelites are going to enter the Promised Land. After reading all the laws and rules, I like this passage because it simply states what God wants his people to do.

The Blessing!

The LORD bless you
and keep you;
the LORD make his face
shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face
toward you
and give you peace.
Numbers 6: 24-26

I knew I wanted to do a layout of the Ten Commandments. I just wasn't sure how to present it. My daughter has a beautiful picture of the Ten commandments that I gave her for her confirmation. But after reading the Bible, this is more how I interpret it. I felt like it needed fire and clouds.

I created the stone tablet in Paint Shop Pro and made the text look like it was carved in the stone.

Rene from the Yahoo Computer Scrapping Elements (CSE) group shared the storm cloud and the brads were shared by Myszka also from the CSE group. The fire background came with my SuperBlade Pro Plugin.

I will surely bless you!

I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore.
Genesis 22:17

I had a lot of fun making this layout from two Pismo pictures. We go to Pismo every year for vacation. The beauty and the vastness of the sand dunes and the ocean are a reminder that all the creativity we learn or have by instinct never measures up to what mother nature provides us.

To create this layout I took two of my favorite things, the sand dunes and the ocean and combined them into one picture to represent God's awesome promise.

In The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

Rick Flohr from www.fleetingglimpse.com graciously allowed my to use his picture "moonlit stones" for my layout. I love the way Tandika's Hot Licks Calypso Kit works with the photo. I did not tweak or colorize the papers at all. You can find Tandika's kits at www.digiscrapdesigner.com

Two Year Journey Through the Bible

On January 1st I started a two year journey through the Bible. I am using the Today's Light Bible. The Bible shows what verses to read each day and takes about fifteen minutes. This fits perfectly with the Flylady philosophy for any Flylady fans out there. On its own, the readings might be meaningless. But what makes this journey special is that our pastor posts a blog for reflecting on the readings and answering questions posted by readers. Pastor Mike's Blog In addition there is a Sunday morning Bible Study focusing on that weeks readings. I am very enthusiastic about this journey and am looking forward to seeing where it will lead.

So as an avid digital scrapbooker, you know I would find a way to incorporate scrapbooking with Bible reading! I decided to start a scrapbook documenting my journey. The above picture is my cover page. The inspriation for the cover page came from the front cover of the Today's Light Bible. I used a picture of Lake San Antonio that I took last October.
